January is Radon Action Month

January is National Radon Action Month. For those of you that have not tested for radon, start the new year off right and test your home for high levels of this deadly gas. If previous tests have determined that your home contains high radon levels, now is the time to take action to prevent exposure to this silent killer.

Most Americans don't
know that radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer (second only to smoking) and is responsible for over 21,000 deaths annually. The EPA recommends homes be fixed if the radon level is 4 pCi/L (pico Curies per Liter) or more. Because there is no known safe level of exposure to radon, EPA also recommends that Americans consider fixing their home for radon levels between 2 pCi/L and 4 pCi/L.

In order to support Radon Action Month, during the month of January all visitors who fill out the free radon mitigation estimate form on Radovent's website at http://www.radovent.com/ will be entered to win a free radon mitigation system (over a $1,000 value) to be installed during the first quarter of 2009. Check it out today. For more information on radon gas facts and a radon map of your area visit the EPA's website.
